I worked with Billy as a Managed Security Services Provider for the duration of his time at Momentus. Billy was able to quickly and effectively bring the Momentus security program into a position of strength. Over the course of 18 months I worked with Billy on various security measures, and always found him to be tough but fair. Billy has the technical chops to have frontline discussions, and the leadership presence to be comfortable in any boardroom. Any organization would be lucky to have Billy as part of their leadership team.

Billy was my boss's boss while he was with McAfee. He always has an open door policy; if you needed to speak to him he was always available or made a schedule that would work. His team, myself included, was sad to see him go. You couldn't ask for a better manager. Any company that hires him will be lucky to have him on their team.

Billy and I have worked for several years together, and I cannot speak highly enough of his work ethic and determination to go above and beyond on whatever task is assigned to him. As a thought leader and customer of mine, Billy was always clear and direct about what he knew was best for his team and their organization. He is a seasoned professional and is willing to listen to and incorporate opinions of others to help him improve his strategies. His team respected him and he continually pushed them to become better and more knowledgeable security professionals and take on more responsibility. It was also apparent that the "team" he had built extended outside of the office walls and they all enjoyed working together and had built friendships, which is what a skilled leader is able to create.

I worked with Billy when he was serving as the Director of InfoSec at Health Net, and I was Director of Corporate and Industrial Security. Could not have asked for a better partnership in our development of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards for the protection of health care information. Billy was great at understanding both commercial and DoD mandates, and requirements for technical compliance. He totally "got" physical security needs, that is why he was so good to work with. Billy has all the skill sets needed for a CISO of a large organization, and any company should rush to get him.

Billy Martin is the consummate IT Security professional. He is an outstanding leader who is consistent, inclusive and open. In the past year I have personally observed Billy take on numerous opportunities to renegotiate contracts for products and services on behalf of Health Net. He is a first rate negotiator who treats the company's resources as his own. While he can take a hard line stance to obtain the best possible deal for his organization he does it in a way that is win-win, and all parties seem to find value from their interaction with him. Billy expects only the best from his team. He pushes them hard, and leverages their skills and abilities, but he is also a leader with the motto of "Work Hard but Play Hard" and he keeps the people around him energized and ready to excel on every project. His turnover rate is so low as to be almost non-existent, and where he goes his people follow.

I first met Billy when he was a young enlisted soldier. From the start he distinguished himself as dedicated and meticulous, constantly pushing himself well beyond expectations. His commitment to excellence, confidence and professional demeanor afforded him the opportunity to give the station operations brief to visiting senior officers and congressional staff. He did such an outstanding job that in one case the visiting general's fondest memory of the station was Billy's brief to him a year earlier. Billy was the kind of soldier that good commanders wanted in their ranks, and he is the kind of professional that good companies want in their ranks.
